Somatic movement education is a gentle and relaxing slow mindful movement awareness practise that enables you to release chronic pain and habituated postures as well and emotional trauma, creating more freedom of movement within the body and calm within the mind.
This non-manipulative self healing modality brings us home to ourselves, creating deeper connection to self enabling root cause issues to unravel as we use our brain, and our nervous system through this neuromuscular re-education releasing unconscious muscular contraction.
Somatics is calming to both the body and mind as we drop into the parasympathetic nervous system or rest and repair. When there is a lot of energy within the body the mind responds. Due to busy lives and stress a lot of us are hanging out for too long in the sympathetic nervous system of fight and flight. By calming the nervous system we become more present and feel a deeper sense of peace with can have a profoundly positive effect on our overall wellbeing.
In somatics we call the body soma. The word soma is an ancient Greek word meaning 'wholeness'. As we are so much more than just skin and bone we are living, breathing, ever evolving miracles of movement, we hold innate wisdom and the capacity to to heal. When we connect deeply to the miracle of our being, we can eliminate the pain that is holding us back from doing what we want to do in this very short and precious life.
